Subject:Marge Coe's Small Gift Baskets

http://www.northtipton.com/small_gift_baskets.htm  These are cute and fun.  I made my first one on the standard gauge with what I think is size 5 thread from my stash.  I followed the pattern exactly including using T6 for it.  It was wide enough on the bottom to fit over the small Gatorade canister.

The second one is soaking in stiffener solution (equal parts glue and water) and I'll set it out to dry in the morning.  I used the same thread and the same tension, but this time I added an additional 10 sts.  I followed the pattern for 3 scallops for each wedge and holding 9 needles total.  I started this one with an open cast on and I didn't do the second row after the last wedge, I just took the piece off onto my garter bar.  I hung the first row with RS facing back on the needles, then I hung the last row WS facing and grafted the pieces together.  I made sure to keep in mind the yarn floats from the needles in HP when I was grafting.  This one still fits the small Gatorade container but is deeper because of the extra 10 sts.

I intend to make one on each of my different machines.  It takes longer to stiffen thicker cotton but it can be done, so I think I can get a good size basket on the Bond.  I'll use good old Peaches 'N Creme for that.  I have some Sinfonia Mercerized Cotton Sport Yarn that I will try on the LK 140.
